Study Finds Marketers Embracing Social Media in 2010
Bristol, United Kingdom 01/22/2010
(TechCrunch) British marketing firm, Alterian, published today the results of their seventh annual survey on social media marketing adoption.
The survey covered 1068 marketing professionals worldwide—though 98% were from the U.S.. Here's a few highlights from the report:
- 66% will be investing in social media marketing in 2010
- 26% will shift more than 1/5 of their direct marketing budget to social media
- 36% are investing in social media monitoring and analysis tools
- 42% don't currently incorporate click stream and web analytics data into their customer and e-mail database
The most interesting factoid (perhaps the only, interesting factoid) from the research was that 51% of respondents are placing a 'fair' to 'significant' amount of effort on moving from a campaign-centric direct marketing model towards multichannel drip engagements.
