Quality Control Professional

Manager Position :: Learn More

This Manager-Level position includes developing a strict QA/QC process and thorough content and design reviews of all out-going marketing material. For all hard-core, detail-demons, this position is for you.

Intern

Director-Level Intern

Internship Position :: Learn More

While most internships involve getting coffee and dry cleaning, that's not interesting here at JDM.

Our internship program employs a top-down approach. Interns will work closely with JDM's Owner, understanding the business from that vantage point and work down through strategy, client relations, and finally to tactical campaign execution. The 1 month program is intensive, broad and unpaid except for reimbursements for expenses associated with the internship including: travel, lunches and, yes, dry cleaning.

JDM's Director-Level Internship program aims to connect participants’ theoretical knowledge with practical experience and create valuable marketing professionals.

The program utilizes a top-down approach. Participants begin the month with the Managing Director/Owner learning about accounting, IT, HR, operations, budgeting, and sales. Then, the program works its way down from strategy to tactical execution with Director and Associate-level assets.

By the end of the one-month program interns should:

  • Have a high-level understanding of business operations
  • Improved communication and presentation skills
  • Understand marketing strategy and Branding initiatives
  • Have tactical experience developing a Brand and producing associated collateral

As a test of the program’s success, interns will become their own Brand. They will learn how to market themselves as they would any other business. The objective of their "Personal Brand" will be securing full-time employment in their ideal field.

Please note: This internship is not one-sided. Interns are expected to generate value for JDM as well as grow into valuable employees themselves. For Interns to be considered for full-time employment at JDM, they must have carved out a critical role for themselves within the organization.

Associate Position

Clever, concise, and insightful copywriting can make the difference between a campaign that looks great (but gets tossed) and one that demands attention, compels the user to take action, and generates results.

This position entails developing content for activities including: taglines, press releases, website content, print advertising, billboards, radio and brochure copy. This position also has a large quality control aspect. Copy quality is harder to control than design quality.

Creative Designer

Creative Designer

Associate Position

There's a difference between an artist and a designer. We're looking for designers who can understand what the design needs to achieve and use every line, color, pixel, gradient, filter and drop of ink to that end.

This position will work closely with our Creative Director and her team. We're looking for young, self-starters who have the talent and dedication to produce their very best work each and every time. By their very best work, we mean not just creatively. We're looking for the innovators of creative.

Office Manager

Manager Position

Although usually thought of as a secretary position, our Office Manager position is a management position.

We're looking for a quick-learner who can manage office supplies, IT, communications, scheduling, shipping & receiving, and help keep us all organized.

This position is the only non-Director part-time position that reports directly to the Owner/Managing Director.

Getting a Marketing Job

Getting a job in marketing is a difficult proposition. Marketing, by its very nature, is invisible and the talents necessary to develop world-class marketing activities are difficult or impossible to qualify.

At JDM, we're not too worried about qualifying job candidates though high-pressure interviews or competitive internships. We utilize a strategy of "don't tell us what you can do—show us!"

If you're interested in a career program or would just like to learn more about other opportunities here at JDM, send your resume and contact information via our online job application. Couldn't hurt, right?

Hiring Practices

Utilizing our hiring strategy of "don't tell us—show us" allows JDM to build a stable of top-talent pre-qualified by action, not information. Here's how our hiring process works:

Candidates' resumes are screened and discussed by the Directors. Those that look interesting are asked to come in for a formal interview. At the conclusion of the interview, candidates are often asked if they'd be willing to work on a 'Test Project'. This is a real project, for JDM as the client. The Test Projects are unpaid, but very small. The Test Project is a way for the candidate to familiarize themselves with how JDM works as well as give JDM the opportunity to see the quality of their work, first hand. If the Test Project is successful, candidates may be asked to join the team as an 'Associate'.

Associates are primarily project-based positions. Associates, after proving their ongoing necessity to the firm are hired on as 'Managers.' Managers are only hired out of the Associates pool.

Once a Manager has proven their ability to manage their work to the quality and consistency demanded by JDM, they may be promoted to 'Director'. Directors are not hired, but rather, promoted from within. Directors run their own teams and set their own priorities. They answer only to the Managing Director.

Employee Testimonials

At JDM, my talents are utilized to their fullest and my skills are challenged every day. For those who are looking for a workplace environment where every day represents a new set of challenges, JDM is the place to be.

- Jenee Oxley, Creative Director

I have a busy personal life. JDM has a flexible work schedule and supportive management. They allow me to do my best work while not coming between my business life and my personal.

- Sian Logan, Photography Associate

Geeks like me thrive on the cutting edge of new technology. JDM doesn't just 'let' me push boundaries, they encourage me to. Projects fall into two categories with me: 1) It's been done and I've either done it or can learn to pretty quick, and 2) Holy crap are you serious I think that's possible but I've never seen it pulled off except once by some guys in Japan. I prefer to stay in the latter category, and here, I do.

- Andy Boyd, Technical Director

It's very rewarding to be part of the team at JDM. It's a fun, challenging work environment that encourages creativity, teamwork, and a healthy work/life balance. I also find it refreshing to work for a results-oriented company that really puts our clients' best interests in mind. We are passionate about the work we do, making sure it not only looks amazing, but that it carries a message that's right on target.
