Growth of the Under 30 Entrepreneur
Dallas, Texas 10/10/2008 (PRweb) Justin Downey, Owner of Dallas-based marketing firm JDM, turned 28 yesterday, October 9th. He’s part of a growing number of entrepreneurs under 30 who are turning the status quo on its head.
While traditionally CEOs worried about how to incorporate the up-and-coming stars into their workforce, today they’re worried about how to compete with them.
“My friends and family thought I was crazy to start my own marketing firm so young,” recalls Downey. “What they didn’t understand is that I’m single, have no kids and therefore I have a much larger risk threshold than my competition. It also helps that JDM is debt free and I’m up to my eyeballs in ambition.”
Since its incorporation early in 2007, JDM has achieved almost 75% quarterly revenue growth while remaining 100% debt free and wholly-owned by Mr. Downey.
“There are only two files in my office. One is labeled ‘Money In’ the other is labeled ‘Money Out’. That’s pretty much all I need to know to run a debt free, profitable business. I let the accountants work out the rest.”
As entrepreneurs under 30 go, Mr. Downey is not alone. According to an article in the October issue of Inc. magazine, the 80 million gen Ys are poised to represent the largest, the most educated, and the most diverse generation in American history.
