Justin received his Bachelors degree from Southern Methodist University in Advertising where (to the best of our knowledge) he is the only student to specialize in both of the Temerlin Advertising Institute's career tracks, Management and Creative. |

After graduation he enrolled in SMU's renowned Cox School of Business' Summer Business Institute, affectionately nicknamed: "Business Boot Camp".

JDM
Justin started Justin Downey Marketing, now JDM. JDM provides no nonsense, innovative, strategic and tactical marketing services to Texas-based clients in industries ranging from Energy, HR and Law to Shipping, GI Surplus and Dog Treats.
Starr Tincup
Justin broke into business-to-business marketing when he joined Starr Tincup as a project manager. He was quickly promoted up through the ranks filling a number of rolls including, Manager of Delivery, Senior Traffic Manager and Director of Marketing Activities where he played a leading role in creative design, technical development and campaign strategy.
In his Director Role, his responsibilities included: client management, corporate planning, marketing consulting, creative and technical direction, and project management.
Justin worked to revolutionize the marketing and sales activities for a number of high-tech software and service companies including: Digital Realty Trust, HRmarketer, Fieldglass, Deploy Solutions, QuantumClean, and The Trade Group.
Graphics Marketing & Communications
Justin joined Graphics Marketing and Communications as their Assistant Creative Director. Justin created direct mail campaigns and sales/promotional collateral for some of GM&C's highest profile clients including: Six Flags Worldwide, and The Houstonian.
Big Ideas
Mr. Downey started his first business, Big Ideas, after graduating college. Big Ideas provided marquee clients with low-cost, high-quality marketing and advertising work from talented recent SMU graduates looking for real-world experience.
Under the Big Ideas name, he was involved in off-line advertising and market research campaigns for B2C companies including: Nokia, HDNet, Young Audiences and Rockfish. He was also producer in charge of marketing for the independent documentary, Listen, which won nation-wide acclaim and a student Academy Award.
5 Things People Don't Know About Justin Downey
- At least for a time, Justin held the title as the "Youngest Journeyman Blacksmith in North Texas"
- At the tender age of 15, Justin was granted the certificate of "Yacht Master" from the Royal Sailing Association, England
- Justin is studying to take the LSATs because of a dare
- He loves Mountain Dew.
- He lost the vote for high-school class president by 2 votes (and is still demanding a re-count!)
